When my family asked what I would like for my birthday and for Christmas, I’m sure they weren’t expecting a long list of seemingly bizarre items one of which was a sleep induction mat. Anyway, after a few months of using it I’m here to tell you all about my experience with this painful looking gift.

The ‘Bulletproof’ Sleep Induction Mat is designed to stimulate acupressure points located in your back to ease your body into a deep relaxed state, helping you fall asleep faster, making you feel more refreshed and improving your overall energy levels. The acupressure increases blood circulation, which then causes your body to release endorphins and beneficial hormones in response.

The mat is made from 100% organic cloth (55% organic hemp and 45% organic cotton) and the acupressure stimulation points are made with non toxic recyclable ABS plastic.  There is no harmful synthetic dye in the fabric.

As I apprehensively lay down on my mat for the first time I have to admit it was a little painful but almost immediately I felt a flood of warmth all over my back. After a few minutes I really started to relax and almost felt like I was floating.

Before I got it, I thought it was designed to actually sleep on! I discovered very quickly that this was not the case. I started off with 15 minute sessions just before bedtime and have gradually increased these to 30 minutes. The feeling just after you get off it and lay down in bed is just amazing and it certainly helps me to relax and fall asleep more easily.

It’s not just for helping you get to sleep though. You can also use it to: -Relieve back tension -Massage your feet – Improve digestion amongst other things.

It easily rolls into a tube shape so is perfect to take with you when travelling or storing away when you’re not using it. It’s a pretty cool design too and there are lots of sleep quotes on the back.

There are lots of other sleep hacks you can try to help you get your 8 hours in but this is definitely something that I would recommend as one of them.

I got mine from amazon.co.uk

Let me know if you you have used a sleep induction mat and your personal experiences with it.
